
As if it were a photograph of the Grand Prix from the 60’s, the Historic YPF Argentine Gran Prix traveled for 4000 kilometres, almost reviving these competitions from the past. Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Córdoba, La Rioja, San Juan, Catamarca, Tucumán and Santiago del Estero witnessed the course of the Volvo 122 paving the way towards the first place followed by a Mercedes Benz 220 and Fiat 1500, Peugeot 404, Auto Union, Saab, Mini Cooper and the Road Racing Chevrolet and Ford, among others.
After an eight day race, the award ceremony took place in the facilities of the Regimiento de Infantería I Patricios on September 9th.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of the ACA, Dr. Juan Manuel Sandberg Haedo, accompanied by members of the Executive Committee.
The awards were given to the ten first couples of the eight competing categories as well as the three first non winners of each category, the first team of each category, the best female racer, the best car presentation and the general winner who turned out to be the Volvo Nº 510, driven by Carlos Berisso and escorted by his son, Guillermo Berisso.
The skill and the effort of the competitors and the amazing call of public confirmed that the Grand Prix continues on its way and is still valid.

>6ª AUTOCLASSIC EDITION 2006 |
In the gardens of the Hipódromo Jockey Club of San Isidro, from September 15 to 17, the 6th Autoclassic Edition 2006 organized by the Club de Automóviles Clásicos de la República Argentina took place and was officially opened by the Mayor of San Isidro, Gustavo Posse, and by the President of the Club de Autmóviles Clásicos, Mr. Roberto Gómez. It was visited by about 5000 people. More than 400 vehicles were exhibited, from ancient animal draught carriages to some of the competitors of the IV Historic Argentine Grand Prix, and about 200 motorcycles.
The ACA presented a stand where a replica of the first road stalls was displayed, which had provided race drivers with service and attention back in the 20’s. There were also race cars from the museum, the Brabham BT36 from 1971, Formula 2, which had been driven by Carlos Alberto Reutemann, the Hudson 1924, driven by Ricardo Nasi and other emblems from old times such as fuel pumps and a street vendor cart of lubricant. .
Also exhibited was the impact simulator at low speed that integrates the campaign designed by the Fundación de la Federación Internacional del Automóvil sponsored by the ACA and Bridgestone / Firestone from Argentina. It was tested by volunteers who, assisted by specialized staff, wanted to confirm the feeling of having a crash at approximately 15 km/h. |
